{"id":156,"date":"2011-06-25T15:16:17","date_gmt":"2011-06-25T19:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tbecm.org\/wp\/?p=156"},"modified":"2021-02-02T09:02:55","modified_gmt":"2021-02-02T13:02:55","slug":"creation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/epistleofchrist.org\/?page_id=156","title":{"rendered":"Creation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>God created humanity in the image of God, after the likeness of Himself; Gen. 1:26, \u201c\u2026..Let us make man in our image, after our likeness\u2026..\u201d God is a spiritual being; Joh. 4:24, \u201cGod\u00a0<em>is<\/em>\u00a0a Spirit\u2026..\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 The definition of\u00a0<strong>being <\/strong>is a<em> state of existing<\/em>.\u00a0We know that God exists, and we know that God is a spirit; therefore, God is a spiritual being.\u00a0Because God is a spiritual being, He does not have a physical body.\u00a0God made Adam in the likeness of Himself; therefore, he did not have a physical body when God created him in Gen. 1:26.\u00a0 Adam was not given a physical body until Gen. 2:7, \u201c\u2026..The LORD God formed man\u00a0<em>of<\/em>\u00a0the dust of the ground\u2026..\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spiritual beings are souls; 1Co. 15:45, \u201c\u2026..The first man Adam was made a living soul\u2026..\u201d \u00a0Spiritual beings are souls, but they do not have physical bodies. It isn\u2019t man\u2019s body or man\u2019s spirit that spend eternity in either heaven or hell.\u00a0 It is his soul that lives forever, Mat. 10:28, \u201c\u2026..rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When God created Adam, he did not have a body because he was like God; invisible.\u00a0 He did not need a body to function in heaven, but he needed a body to till the ground on earth.\u00a0 First, God created Adam\u2019s soul, Gen. 1:27, \u201c\u2026..So God created man in his\u00a0<em>own<\/em>\u00a0image, in the image of God created he him\u2026..\u201d\u00a0 Second, the Lord formed Adam\u2019s body, Gen. 2:7, \u201c\u2026..God formed man\u00a0<em>of<\/em>\u00a0the dust of the ground\u2026..\u201d\u00a0 Third, Adam received the spirit of life when God breathed in his nostrils, Gen. 2:7, \u201c\u2026..breathed into his nostrils the breath of life\u2026..\u201d\u00a0The spirit or breath of life caused Adam\u2019s body to become a living soul; Gen. 2:7, \u201c\u2026..And man became a living soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Hebrew word for spirit is\u00a0<em>ruach<\/em>\u00a0#7307, and it means\u00a0<em>wind and breath.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>When God breathed into Adam\u2019s nostrils, God was putting His energy in Adam.\u00a0The spirit of man causes his physical body to live.<\/p>\n<p>God created Adam and Eve\u2019s souls simultaneously, Gen. 1:27, \u201c\u2026..Male and female created he them.\u201d\u00a0Once Adam received his body and had the spirit of life enter his body, God then put him to sleep to design a body for Eve; Gen. 2:21-22, \u201cAnd the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
