Who is Peter?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peter was an apostle\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1Pe. 1:1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 an apostle of Jesus Christ<\/p>\n

He was appointed by Jesus\u00a0 Mat. 16:18 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 upon this rock I will build my church<\/p>\n

1 Peter is a book of the Bible — in the form of a letter (epistle)<\/strong><\/p>\n

From\u00a0\u00a0 Peter, an Apostle<\/p>\n

To:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the strangers that are scattered throughout<\/p>\n

Peter is writing to Strangers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Strangers\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 #G3927\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 an alien \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 resident foreigner\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 pilgrim<\/p>\n

The strangers that Peter is referencing — are gentiles<\/p>\n

And they are believers\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1Pe. 1:2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 elect<\/p>\n

The strangers (gentiles) are scattered throughout the world<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where are the strangers (gentiles) scattered?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pontus\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a region of Asia Minor (Turkey)<\/p>\n

Bithynia\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a region of Asia (northwest Turkey)<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The phrase (scattered throughout)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Does not necessarily mean the entire globe<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peter is writing to the people in the present day Turkey<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Peter is acknowledging God — the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because of God\u2019s abundant mercy<\/p>\n

He gave us a second opportunity to spent eternity with Him<\/p>\n

The first time — He gave us physical birth<\/p>\n

The second time — He gave us spiritual birth (by His Son)<\/em><\/p>\n

He gave us a lively hope<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lively\u00a0 #G2198\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 to live\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 life<\/p>\n

Hope\u00a0\u00a0 #G1680\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 confidence\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 faith<\/p>\n

Lively hope is faith to live our lives — according to His word<\/p>\n

That lively hope was manifested by —<\/p>\n

The resurrection of Christ Jesus from the dead<\/p>\n

What is the significance of the shed blood of Jesus?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is an inheritance:<\/p>\n

That inheritance is:\u00a0\u00a0 incorruptible\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 undefiled\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 does not fade away<\/p>\n

Conclusion: our inheritance is eternal life<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Although we have salvation, there will be tests<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Even though we will be tempted by the ways of the world<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>We should continue to rejoice — until the end<\/p>\n

The end being — His return — or our death<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Old Testament prophets — did not see Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n

The were constantly looking for the day of Christ<\/p>\n

In the Old Testament the prophets prophesied about the birth of Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the New Testament, ministers preach about the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Christ Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The angels are envious of Christians\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heb. 1:13-14<\/strong><\/p>\n

God never told an angel to:<\/p>\n

Sit on my right hand — until He make their enemies their footstool<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instructions to the born-again gentiles<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gird up the loins of your mind (prepare yourself)<\/p>\n

Be sober and have faith — until the end<\/p>\n

Continue to wait for the pleasure that arrives when Jesus returns<\/p>\n

Be obedient<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Call on the Father<\/strong><\/p>\n

He judges all — according to their works<\/p>\n

He\u2019s no respecter of persons<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The redemption of mankind was fore ordained<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before the foundation of the world<\/p>\n

Joh. 1:1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 in the beginning was the Word<\/p>\n

And the Word was with God<\/p>\n

And the Word was God<\/p>\n

But it was not manifested until these last days (New Testament)<\/p>\n

Joh. 1:14\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Because our souls are purified — we are born again<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are not born-again of a corruptible seed —<\/p>\n

We are born of an incorruptible seed<\/p>\n

We are born-again — by the word of God<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Word (Christ) <\/strong>is alive — and the Word<\/strong> lives forever<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The weakness of the flesh<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All flesh is likened to grass — <\/strong>therefore man is also likened to grass<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The flower of the grass is it\u2019s identification <\/strong>(pretty and ugly)<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Therefore the lifestyle (deeds) of man —<\/p>\n

Is his identification (positively or negatively)<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Just a the flower of the grass withers — <\/strong><\/p>\n

Man\u2019s lifestyle (deeds) will also wither<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unless he endures until the end<\/strong><\/p>\n
