{"id":777,"date":"2011-10-28T10:52:26","date_gmt":"2011-10-28T14:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/epistleofchrist.org\/?p=777"},"modified":"2013-03-25T07:54:08","modified_gmt":"2013-03-25T11:54:08","slug":"keep-on-grilling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epistleofchrist.org\/?p=777","title":{"rendered":"Keep on Grilling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">To me, the smell of smoke from a barbeque is just a friendly reminder that whenever we are in need, help is only a prayer away.\u00a0 It is such a satisfying aroma that everyone immediately look around to locate the source of the smoke, because it is the tell tale sign of where such a pleasant scent is originating.\u00a0 After locating the smoke, the aroma from the barbeque is such a sweet smell and mouth-watering experience that it initiates a brief moment of well-being.\u00a0 Using a phrase from the Bible, that aroma from the smoke of a barbeque is an odor of a sweet smell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">One might ask, what does a barbeque have to do with the praying?\u00a0 Well, in the Old Testament, when the Children of Israel offered a burnt offering, they killed an animal and burned it on the altar.\u00a0 The smell of the fat burning ascended up to God, creating an odor of a sweet smell; Exo.29:18, \u201c\u2026..\u00a0 it <em>is<\/em> a burnt offering unto the LORD: it <em>is<\/em> a sweet savour, an offering made by fire\u2026..\u201d\u00a0 This same principle applies with a barbeque.\u00a0 An animal\u2019s life has been \u00a0sacrificed and his body is placed on a grill.\u00a0 As the flesh is positioned over the flame, the fat begins to burn off and the by-product is smoke with an odor of a sweet smell.\u00a0 This aroma fills the air and captures everyone\u2019s attention because it is so pleasing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Why is the burning of fat so pleasing to God?\u00a0 Well, everything in the Old Testament points to something in the New Testament.\u00a0 The smoke from the burning animal fat is equivalent to the saint\u2019s prayers rising up to God; Rev.5:8, \u201c\u2026..having every one of them\u2026.. golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.\u201d\u00a0 The smoke rising from the burnt offerings is well-pleasing to God just as the saint\u2019s prayers rising to God, are also well-pleasing to Him.\u00a0 Prayer is mankind\u2019s way of communicating with God and those prayers always rises to heaven, Rev.8:4, \u201c\u2026..prayers of the saints, ascended up before God\u2026..\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">Just as the smoke from a barbeque rises throughout the neighborhood, the saint\u2019s prayers ascend up to God also.\u00a0 Whenever you are in need of anything that\u2019s not in opposition to God, all you have to do is to pray to God.\u00a0 Your prayers are well-pleasing to Him; 1 Pet. 3:12, \u201c\u2026..the eyes of the Lord <em>are<\/em> over the righteous, and his ears <em>are open<\/em> unto their prayers\u2026..\u201d\u00a0 Your prayers to God, is an odor of a sweet smell, so all you have to do is ask Him for what you need; Php.4:6, \u201c\u2026..\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">The next time you smell a barbeque, it should be a reminder that you always have an open door to God.
