Question: In Acts 3:7, what is the significance of the right hand?
Answer: When Peter used his right hand to help the lame man, it was no coincidence. This was an extension of the right hand of fellowship showing that there was a mutual understanding or agreement; Gal. 2:9, “…..they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen and they unto the circumcision.” The right hand of God represents several things. In one scripture, it represents strength; Isa.62:8, “…..the arm of his strength…..” In another scripture, it represents righteousness; Isa.41:10, “…..the right hand of my righteousness.” Then again, the right hand represents power; Mr. 14:62, “…..the right hand of power…..” The right hand of God undoubtedly signifies his power and authority, after all, it is the right hand of the Father where Jesus sits; Heb. 10:12, “…..after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God…..”
