Are you automatically doomed if you commit suicide?

Question:        Is it true, one is automatically doomed if he commits suicide?

Answer:          The word suicide does not appear in the Bible.  There are no scriptures that states a person is doomed if he commits suicide.  I believe this thought process came from the fact that a person can ask for forgiveness for all of his sins and be forgiven.  If a person commits suicide, he is no longer capable of asking for forgiveness.  Others believe that if one commits suicide, he’s destroying the temple of God.  Neither of these viewpoints is our belief on suicide, but they are merely a thought process of many people.  The Bible does not specifically say yea or nay concerning suicide.  That decision is one that is determined by God; Heb. 4:12, “…..the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”  Anyone that commits suicide is definitely not considered to be in a rational state of mind; therefore it is ultimately up to God to discern their hearts and their thoughts at the moment of their death.
