Daily Scripture
Rom. 7:1-3

Rom 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

Rom 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man

Bathsheba
was the wife of Uriah, and she later became David's wife. Bathsheba means the daughter of an oath. David saw her bathing from the rooftop, and he decided to commit adultery with her. From that sexual union, she conceived. David tried to cover up the pregnancy by ordering Uriah, her husband, from the battlefield. Uriah refused to go home to his wife, so David sent him back to the battle with a note demanding Joab to send him to the hottest battle zone and have the other soldiers withdraw from him. As per David's plan, Uriah died in battle. After a brief period of mourning, David married Bathsheba. She gave birth to the child, but it died after seven days. David and Bathsheba had four more children named Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon. Bathsheba stood before King David to ensure that her son Solomon was a successor to David's throne. Because Bathsheba was the wife of David and mother of Solomon and Nathan, she is a part of the lineage of Jesus. Bathsheba is the granddaughter of Ahithophel. Perhaps that's why Ahithophel turned against David.
