Sabbath means intermission, which is a pause or break. God commanded that man work six days and then take a break for one day, known as the Sabbath Day. There is now some contention as to which day is the actual Sabbath. Is it Saturday or Sunday? Scripture does not explicitly designate the Sabbath as Saturday, Sunday, or another day. The Sabbath is a sign between God and man that it is God who sanctifies us.
